SYLVAN GHOSTS:  ABANDONED ON THE 160

In 2008 I began photographing these wrecked cars from the 1940s and ’50s after I discovered them junked and abandoned deep in the woods on 160 acres of undeveloped land in Western Massachusetts.  In 2017 I returned again to the woods and photographed their continuing state of rust and decay.  The surrounding foliage had been tamped down significantly, but the cars showed a slow but continued demise.
